Debate Summer Camp

Our full day Debate/MUN summer camp aims to bring all young students together. We believe that debating, MUN, public speaking and knowing about the wider world are all important skills for people in all generations. Students at all ability levels, from the reluctant speaker to the accomplished debater, will be encouraged to attend.

We do not treat camp as the classroom only, we believe that “camp” creates a novel and secure learning environment in two or three weeks where campers can safely try new skills, think independently, see opposing viewpoints and trust their teammates. After debate camp, campers will feel encouraged and confident in their ability to discuss topics that they were unsure of just a few weeks ago.

During development of the debating is not the skill for competition purposes only. We believe that to have advocacy skills, and the ability to effectively organize one’s thoughts, the ability to listen and be heard and to respond their opponents with effective points and counter-points, leadership and interpersonal relationships. These are the skills that all kids should develop. Education has forever operated on a belief in the skills, ability and good intention of the future generation. Our debate camp is designed to be invested in this work. Not only do politicians, social workers and lawyers need these skills, but also engineers, doctors, programmers and all other careers need these skills.

Our debate coaches will have excellent leadership, organizational, communication and problem solving skills. They will have experience in teaching and learning strategies for children aged 10 – 16. We do not only require the debate coaches to have a background in competitive debate, but also a degree of ability as a classroom educator.
